In addition to opening multiple projects at once, 2D editing supports jumplists or allows you to view documents pinned to your taskbar. You can also work on several projects or files simultaneously as the app supports multi-windowing. The program is a middle ground between MS Paint and 3D Builder as it is capable of editing 2D and 3D animation in one file. It was launched alongside View 3D, Windows Mixed Reality, Holograms, and 3D Builder. Paint 3D is part of the Windows 10 line of applications that support three-dimensional objects.

You can view your finished work from different angles as the canvas or workspace can also be rotated. 3D Objects can be rotated and resized to fit your preferred dimensions. It also allows you to insert other 2D and 3D images from your device and from your OneDrive account to the app. You will find 3D stock images such as people, animals, text, geometric shapes, and doodles in the app. The program has the same functionality as Microsoft Paint but now offers support for 3D shapes.
